TOKYO, Feb. 9 () - Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda appointed Tatsuo Hirano as head of the reconstruction agency to deal with the aftermath of last year's earthquake and tsunami, Chief Cabinet Secretary Osamu Fujimura said at a press conference Thursday.Noda also appointed Masaharu Nakagawa, former education, culture, sports, science and technology minister, as minister in charge of disaster management, the post Hirano used to take.Last December, Japan's lower house of parliament passed the bill on establishing a new agency to bolster efforts to rebuild areas ravaged by the natural disaster and bring cabinet members to a maximum 18 by adding a new member.Hirano and Nakagawa will officially take the positions after an inauguration on Friday at the Imperial Palace. The 57-year-old minister Nakagawa will meet the media later Friday.Noda is scheduled to hold a press conference Friday to reiterate his determination to rebuild disaster-hit areas, said Fujimura, the government top spokesman.
